Gathering important information from the patient is critical to diagnose the acute episode and provide the care to patient. With this week iHuman assessment I did not ask enough questions to gather all the information which can help me to distinguish about the differential diagnosis. The information about the current sign and symptoms, past medical history, allergies, medication patient currently taking, family history, and social history is important to rule out the different diagnosis. I have performed the Physical examination which is not focused to the system.
I think I can improve myself in gathering the information. I can use the active communication skills such as active listening, understanding the non-verbal cue, and asking open-ended question. “Communication in the medical act is an active process of transmission and reception of information, and at least one of the partners of communication must have active listening skills, understanding of the message, and answering some questions for interpretation of non- verbal language, motivating the speaker to support the conversation” (Chichirez et al., 2018).
If the patient cannot afford the treatment plan, I would change it to more affordable one. I can provide the information about the community resources which provides medical care to the patient at affordable rate. For medication, I can prescribe the generic medication which patient can afford. The lack of transportation and easy access to healthcare is also needed to be consider when the treatment plan is created......... Continue
