Check-Up- Health Care Investigator

As my patient going through her first pregnancy at the age of 43, I would converse with her about the risk factors of being pregnant at her age. Although it is generally agreed that drinking one or servings of alcohol a few days per week will not cause fetal alcohol syndrome disorder, it can still have adverse effects on the fetus according to (Santrock, 2018). I would also remind the patient that although some renowned international obstetricians may suggest that having a glass of red wine during pregnancy is healthy to maintain normal blood pressure and reduce anxiety levels, this does not apply to every pregnancy situation. I would also ask my patient if these same renowned international obstetricians have any studies or research, she can look at that may give her more detailed information or an elaboration of their quotes or advise. I would also inform her that already being exposed to these risk factors and others along with drinking is more likely to increase these adverse effects to the fetus. Since this is an unexpected first-time pregnancy, our goal is to minimize as many adverse effects as possible for you and the baby.......... Document Continue
