Week 3 Assignment: Analyzing Body Language

“I have a dream” speech given by Dr. Marin Luther King Jr in the 1960’s. This speech shed light on the realization that even though slaves had been freed by Abraham Lincoln many years ago blacks still wasn’t free. He talks about segregation and unequal rights of African Americans. The purpose of the speech was to protest against discrimination to fight for equal rights for all citizens. Segregation was limiting black lives not allowing for growth within the community during the sixties. She is the founder of Black Lives Matter. She states” Black folks have consistently been denied the rights to privilege that come with citizenship that so many of us take for granted.” (2020).

When comparing the two speeches I felt Dr. King’s leadership was more powerful and peaceful. Giving the information needed but in a less defensive way. Dr. King’s speech was held at the Lincoln Memorial in from of thousands of people. This was a very powerful and impactful statement. During these times there wasn’t a lot of rallies held (2018).
