This paper discusses the guidelines for three sections of the constitution of Florida, that is, Basic Rights, Religious Freedom, and Freedom of Speech and Press, and how these sections compare with the equivalent section in the United States Bill of Rights.
Basic Rights
According to the constitution of Florida, all natural persons are equal before the law. All persons have the right to enjoying as well as defending liberty and life. Male and female alike, have equal rights to pursue happiness, be rewarded equally for equal work done, and possess, acquire, and protect properties. Therefore, no individual is to be deprived of his or her right on the basis of religion, race, national origin, or physical disabilities (The Florida Senate, 2021).
Religious Freedom
According to The Florida Senate (2021), the Florida Constitution stipulates that the state shall not have any law that respects any religious establishment or prohibit individuals from exercising their freedom of religion. The section further stipulates that freedom of religion shall not be used to justify any actions or practices that are public morals, safety, or peace.
