Mental illness is a severe health issue affecting people around the globe. In the journey through nursing, I have learned that mental illness is often ignored and misunderstood as compared to other National Practice Problems. Still, the nation is struggling with a mental health disorder with significant adverse outcomes among its population. Rehm & Shield (2019) pointed out that billions of people worldwide are dealing with anxiety, loneliness, debilitating despair, and dread affecting their quality of life.
