Educational Problem
Postpartum depression is one of the most understood syndromes post-pregnancy and that is something that will be explored extensively throughout this assignment. The problem is not postpartum depression directly but indirectly, as the problem is the learner’s ability to properly care for patients who are suffering from postpartum depression. Undergraduate nursing students are tasked with learning how to care for a wide variety of patients through evolving case studies by using experiential learning model to amplify the student’s ability to retain knowledge regarding this topic. Postpartum depression prevalence in 27 states is 11.5% followed by a 2–9- month period of these symptoms (Ko et al., 2017). The population is vast and that is something that nursing students should learn how to care for because this population is susceptible to developing depression.
