Diagnostic Tests:
- 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG)
Interpretation: Normal sinus rhythm; no acute changes, voltage criteria for left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH)
- Arterial Blood Gas (ABG)
PaO2 slightly low at 82mmHg; Base excess abnormal at -1.6mEq/L; Otherwise normal
- Brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), blood Result: 0.042 ug/L - normal
- Cardiac nuclear stress test, Lexiscan Interpretation: Normal
- Cardiac stress test: not done
- Complete blood count (CBC), blood All normal
- Coronary angiogram (catheterization)
Interpretation: Severe aortic stenosis (AS) with valve area <0.6cm2; coronary arteries are patent without significant stenosis
- Echocardiogram, transesophageal (TEE) Interpretation:
Left ventricle - Moderate left ventricular hypertrophy; ejection fraction 70%; no regional wall motion abnormalities, abnormal diastolic performance, elevated left ventricular end diastolic pressure
Left atrium - elevated left atrial volume
Mitral valve - Normal aortic valve; trileaflet with severe sclerocalcific changes, mean gradient consistent with severe aortic stenosis, estimated valve area consistent with severe/critical aortic stenosis 0.65cm2
