The learning in this course has allowed me to expand on program outcome 5, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials Domain 3, and the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) Quality Competency. This growth in knowledge base came through discussion posts, iHuman virtual patient encounters, and in-person clinical experiences.
Program outcome 5: Advocates for positive health outcomes through compassionate, evidencebased, collaborative advanced nursing practice, was present throughout every aspect of this course and
each patient encounter. All patient care is coupled with compassion and evidence-based care. Two specific examples in this course are from clinical experience and the clinical pearl assignment. A patient presented to clinic with a new diagnosis of breast cancer and had just finished chemotherapy and radiation therapy. She was presenting to establish care with a new PCP, as she felt like she needed a “cheerleader” and someone to support her in her journey. ……..Continue
