On a scale of 1-10 (10 being most prepared) how prepared are you to conduct a psychiatric interview in your clinical rotation? Please explain your rating. What resources are needed to support your preparedness?
Dear Professor and class,
I would rate my readiness to conduct a psychiatric interview 6 out of 10. I feel that I am much more prepared than before beginning the course, specifically these last few weeks, but still lack some confidence when it comes to specific questions to ask when it comes to details. My main focus is to work on techniques to establish a good therapeutic alliance with the client because this is the most important area of the interview process. For me to be able to effectively treat an individual, I have to gain as much truthful information as possible and that requires trust and honesty during engagement and interviewing.
