Test Plan for Provider List Student Name Chamberlain University College of Nursing NR543: Information Workflow in Healthcare Dr. Soriano January 21, 2022 Test Plan for Provider List The Central Virginia Health Care System (CVHCS) located in Richmond, Virginia is one of many Veterans’ Affairs (VA) hospitals which operate using the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS). The proposed change to workflow will allow for a more accurate and up-to-date list of providers who are actively participating in a patient’s care. The change to the provider list will allow for better interdisciplinary communication and collaboration as well as increase overall patient satisfaction levels. A comprehensive description of the projected test plan for this workflow change will be provided. The proposed methodology for testing will be discussed as well as the advantages and disadvantages for this method. Finally, evidence-based recommendations for resolving issues with the testing method will be given. Test Plan The success of change implementation is dependent on the success of testing. It is imperative that testing be well structured, detailed, and thought out to ensure that the change will be supported. Defining the scope, setting a realistic schedule, choosing acceptable deliverables, accounting for needed resources, and planning for risks and contingencies are the steps needed to ensure a successful test plan. These steps will be discussed in further detail below. Scope The proposed workflow change will not require entirely new software or major changes to current programs used. There is already a process within the CPRS system which allows for the auto-population of the primary care provider into the patient’s provider list. This process simply needs to be replicated to allow for the generation of other providers, caring for the patient, into the provider list.
