Exercise and Psychotropic Medication Effectiveness Student Name Chamberlain University Date Submitted Abstract This paper focuses on the important of why the topic of ineffectiveness of psychiatric patients and medication was chosen. It is seeking to explore the discussion of psychiatric patients who feel their medication is ineffective and whether incorporating exercise would be effective compared to those who do not exercise. Exercise and Psychotropic Medication Effectiveness In Psychiatric nursing, there are many issues that surround a patient, treatable and untreatable. What professionals tend to focus on is the ability to treat a patient’s symptoms for them to have a sustainable quality of life. However, it is not possible to treat every symptom effectively and fully, but what if exercise was combined with a patient’s treatment in addition to taking psychotropic medication? Would their untreated symptoms be alleviated? This paper will explore the combination of taking psychotropic medication in addition with exercise and evaluating their symptoms versus those who only take psychotropic medications and do not exercise. The goal is to see if exercise will provide to be more effective with a combination of medication to see if it will enhance the effectiveness of the medication.
