Position Description Analysis
Computer science is a topic that has a broad range of job positions as well as skills. In nursing, informatics is a relatively new position that is not taught across the country yet. It is also a position that many nurses are not quite educated on. Each position that a nurse informaticist holds may have a different responsibility compared to its previous and it is based around a person's experience and the company's requirements. This paper will explore what the different requirements for a Chief Nursing Informatics Officer (CNIO), Informatics Nurse I and Informatics Nurse Specialist (INS).
Analysis
To become an informaticist, there are a few requirements that consist of different levels of education, skills, and experience.
Chief Nursing Informatics Officer
According to an article published by NCBI, the CNIO position is not one that is clearly defined at it was a role that was created recently to complement the existing Chief Information Officer (CIO). The article continued to state that the expectations, skillset, or educational standards for this role are not clear (Kannry et. al, 2016). A general synopsis of this position would be that these individuals act as a physician within a health informatics field and the requirements for this position may vary depending on the company (Kannry et. al, 2016).
