Rubric Development Student Name Chamberlain University College of Nursing NR537: Assessment and Evaluation in Education Dr. Kellie Bassell Date Submitted Rubric Development This paper will review rubric development for a learning activity. Rubrics are important for both students and educators. For students they provide a clear succinct outline of the requirements for an assignment, they set goals for the assignments, keep students on task, and help them to remain focused when completing an assignment (Stanley et al., 2020). For the educator, it provides a streamlined, organized, and consistent method for assessing the quality of an assignment and provides a standard for grading (Stoddard et al., 2016). In addition, according to Stanley et al. (2020) a rubric can also decrease stress for both the educator and the student, support increased communication between parties, and assist with meeting learning outcomes for the assignment. This paper will review an assigned learning activity, including a brief description of the activity and learning outcomes to be attained upon successful completion of the assignment. The content and format criteria for the learning activity will be identified, and the completed rubric for the assigned activity will be presented. Care Plan Development with the use of a Concept Map In this learning activity the newly hired nurse will develop a concept map for heart failure (HF) and utilize the concept map to develop a general care plan for a client with HF that can be utilized in a subacute rehabilitation setting.
