Introduction
This paper’s purpose will be to identify a nursing framework that can be implemented into a healthcare organizations practice to help raise patient and employee satisfaction. Westbrooks acute care regional hospital has had a decline in satisfaction and as a CNO the best framework to implement that can help improve overall satisfaction will be the pathway to excellence model which this paper will explain. Understanding this model should help us provide a strong foundation on how best to address the problems we see in Westbrook and help us set goals as nursing executives to have better satisfaction and outcomes not only for our patients but our care team members as well. This paper will explain the plan to make Westbrook a better place for patients and employees. The introduction will identify the statement of paper’s purpose, identify the chosen setting and the framework and how it will be applied, and a summary of what the paper will cover. Next, we will explain the pathway to excellence model and include an overview of its practice, a rationale for its selection, and two important components of the framework. We will then describe two specific examples with expected outcomes of the framework’s impact on nursing in the Westbrook community, and specific strategies for engaging staff and leadership. Lastly, we will restate the purpose of the paper, as well as summarize what was discussed.
Pathway to excellence model
Nurses are our frontline workers in healthcare that dedicate their careers to focus on improving healthcare for all and providing the best patient care possible. For nurses to be able top reform at the best of their ability they need to be able to have a support system that encourages them to perform at the high standards they are capable of. “The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) believes every nurse deserves to be working in such an environment. The Pathway to Excellence Program® – the premier designation for healthy work environments –recognizes health care organizations that demonstrate a commitment to establishing the foundation of a healthy workplace for staff” (ANA, 2017).
