Introduction

The Florence Nightingale days, back in the 1800’s, is when evidence- based practice was used. Florence Nightingale used patient’s outcomes and made decisions on how she will care for them. Evidenced- based practice has been around before many of us were born, as in 1992 when medicine was officially introduced. Medicine was introduced by a physician, who was Scottish, Archibald Cochrane (Stavrou et. al, 2018). Clinical knowledge, research, and the choices of the patient on improving clinical practice or their outcome is the high-quality usages of evidenced- based practice (Abu-Baker et. al, 2021).

The models of evidenced- based practice creates a framework for those working on the process of making decisions by starting with a clinical question. One model is the John Hopkins Nursing Evidenced-Based Practice: Model and Guidelines (JHNEBP). This model continues to serve as a guide to developing and improving the quality of clinicals and improving patient outcomes. The area of focus is medical surgical units, and the decrease in Central Line Associated Bloodstream Infections (CLABSI) by providing hospitalized patients with daily chlorhexidine baths.
