M.H. is a 22-year-old female college student who presents to the clinic with a throbbing headache that started 1 day ago. Headache started on the left side of her temple then spread to her whole head, pain level of 8. Headache is accompanied by nausea, phonophobia but no photophobia. Taking acetaminophen helps with minor headaches but for severe headaches sleeping in a quiet and dark room helps. PMH of previous headaches and experienced a similar headache 1 year ago where she started to see flashes of light, having problems seeing in certain directions that lasted about 20 minutes before the onset of a headache. Increase in frequent headaches about every 4-6 weeks that are worsening and are more painful. Her sister and mom have similar headaches. Taking birth control for the past 2 years. Current stressors include looking for employment, school, a recent break-up, lack of sleep, and poor eating.
