Reflecting on my learning throughout this course, I was able to gain valuable assessment skills to provide high quality, safe, patient-centered care grounded in holistic health principles. Holistic care provides an in-depth understanding of patients and their various needs for care and has important consequences in health-care systems. One example of what I learned specifically is that holistic care can contribute to a patient’s satisfaction with healthcare and help them to accept and assume self-responsibility. Secondly, assessing holistically will also result in a better understanding of the effects of illnesses on a patient’s response and their true needs.
