Problem Statement by Ranada Lewis on case Emily Green
E.G., a 22-year-old college student, presents with complaints of a left temporal headache that progressed over 30 hours to a throbbing headache, rating it an 8 out of 10 on the pain scale. The patient has symptoms of photophobia, phonophobia, and nausea. Acetaminophen and rest provide no relief to the patient. The patient describes the headache as different than headaches she has had in the past due to no relief. The patient did have a similar headache prior with missing vision and vision flashes lasting approximately 20 minutes. She complains that the headaches are happening every 4-6 weeks. Recent stress is breaking up with her boyfriend and has a big paper due for her class. She explains she hasn't been eating as normal and hasn't been sleeping as usual. Mother and sister both have a history of headaches. She is also on oral contraceptives for the past two years.
