Body System
Cardiovascular disease is an epidemic around the globe that is often dealt with by providers. According to the WHO, cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death globally (World Health Organization, 2021). Cardiovascular assessments help to identify significant factors and abnormalities that can influence cardiovascular health such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, and heart failure. A focused cardiovascular assessment is used to identify cardiac irregularities in at-risk individuals.The cardiovascular system’s main job is to oxygenate the body and rid the body of toxins.
Physiology of the Body System
The cardiovascular system is made up of the heart and associated vessels, that work together to carry nutrients and oxygen to tissues and remove waste products, such as carbon dioxide from the body (Fritz & McKenzie, 2017). The heart is in the thoracic cavity and is divided into four chambers. The left and right atrium are the upper chambers, and the right and left ventricles are the lower chambers (Fritz & McKenzie, 2017). All four chambers work together in a harmonized effort to continuously circulate blood. Blood is received by the atria and then passed into the ventricles, where it is then sent to the lungs to be oxygenated and ultimately to the rest of the body (Fritz & McKenzie, 2017).................Continue
