I found the self-assessment interesting and it made me consider how often I come into contact with someone who is HIV positive or has AIDS as well as how much more I need to learn about how different medications can impact someone with those diagnoses. Good thing pharmacology is coming up soon. As for the podcast, it was definitely worth reading. In the table of social determinants of health under the healthcare system, it mentioned the provider having linguistic and cultural competency as one of the determinants that were related to health outcomes. I feel that ties in perfectly with this week's lesson about culture and is a reminder that as advanced providers, we need to be very aware of our patient's cultures in order to accommodate and tailor our care to their needs.
