Reflections on Learning Student Name Chamberlain College of Nursing NR 501: Theoretical Basis for Advanced Nursing Practice December 19th Reflections of Learning Lessons 1-8 Lesson 1: The most important concept I learned this week was the importance of theory as it relates to nursing. The reason this is important because a BSN, RN and we were taught to collaborate with our patients and healthcare providers. This prepares me tbecome an advanced practice nurse because it molds me to take on more of a leadership role. Theory is an important part of the research process and it is vital to the framework of nursing. If we didn't have theory we couldn't test out new areas of interest (Ahtisham & Jacoline, 2015). Lesson 2: Nursing knowledge is an ongoing process. In this week’s discussion we revisited a time where we were in a challenging situation. As a nurse, we have to be honest in situations that we do not feel it is safe for ourselves and our patients. This concept is important because we do not want to cause harm to the people that trust us with their care (Terry, Carr, & Curzio 2016). This prepares me in my future role because I have to remain persistent and diligent in my new role.
