Hello class, I work in the neurology unit, its a level 1 trauma hospital and a stroke comprehensive center. We do a lot of focus assessments. we concentrate in the neuro aspect of the patient such as cranial nerves, we check the eye pupils, eye movement to see any eye gaze, have them smile, stick their tongue out. also, legs and arms symmetry and muscle tone. we see a lot of stroke patients and traumatic brain injuries. I asked them for alert and orientation questions such as, name, year, month and do they know where they are. If they aren't sure I reorient them as to time or where they are or why they are there. some patients are aphasic I hand them a picture book to communicate with them....... Continue
