Photography and cinema show the beauty and reality of the world we live in. Pictures have a way of showing our personal experiences and documenting moments in time that may speak to the photographer and viewer's emotions (FMoPA, 2019). To capture a picture, a person must first find a subject. The subject may vary just like the context behind the photo. In the pictures shown above, the subject is a thunderstorm that has erupted over a short period of time. Each photo has a back story, and I am here to speak about it.
The inspiration piece I chose is based on a storm that appeared in Gaza city in Palestinein the year 2020. During the time this photo was taken, a storm was erupting around the city in all senses. There was a war occurring between the Palestinians and the Israelians, the attacks were getting fiercer, and emotions were rising. I believe that the photo taken above was symbolism for what was happening in their current situation and what was yet to come. It is tense, the sky is darkened and there is a flash of light that illuminates the sky. One building seems to be shining as the lightning strikes not too far behind it. The purple in the sky gives a sense of fear and you can practically hear the lightning as it strikes the ground. It instills fear into the viewer that the world is not what it seems, and darker times are still to come. My photo shows something similar, yet with a different outlook……..Continue
