This essay will discuss the similarities and differences between Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and Fickman's She's the Man. In She's the Man and Twelfth Night, most of the characters have the same names and respectfully play similar roles as their counterparts. The main difference is the setting and modernization.
The movie Twelfth Night is about a character named Viola, who was separated from her twin brother Sebastian at sea and decides to pose as her brother to work for Duke Orsino. Duke happens to be in love with Countess Olivia and sends Viola to court her for him. During this time, Olivia fell in love with Viola while at the same time, Viola was slowly falling for Duke. Sebastian eventually shows up and marries Olivia in a case of misidentify which causes Viola to be outed as a woman. Viola eventually took off her Sebastian disguise and married Duke in the end.
