Ethical Dilemmas
What can be one of the most ethical dilemmas people may face is,
having their religion go against something they stand for. Not knowing
whether to stand for what is right to them or reconsider their
beliefs/actions based off of what others may think of them. These two
ethical dilemmas will face life changing outcomes. The first ethical
dilemma starts with Jane, an eighteen-year-old female who is sexually
attracted to other females. When one female is sexually or romantically
attracted to other women, they fall under the category of a lesbian
(Donahue,2006). However, Jane’s parents are of a specific religion that
forbids one to be a lesbian. This religion goes on further to say that
lesbians will be punished in the afterlife. Unaware of how her parents
will react to her sexuality, Jane wonders is it worth telling them?
Secondly, this ethical dilemma is about Joe and Mary who are a couple
that had a child before becoming sterile. What does it mean to be sterile?
According to the Mayo Clinic, “Infertility is defined as not being able to

rare disease causing a tragic death, causing them to miss their child
terribly! However, one-day Joe and Mary were informed on a new IVF
procedure that could ensure them having another child. The dilemma is
their religion forbids the IVF (in vitro fertilization) procedure. Undecided
on what to do, Joe and Mary struggle on making their decision.

the right thing”. For example, a scenario of good ethical conduct would
be, waiting at a red light when no one around, instead of just running the
light since no one is around……..Continue
