Moral controversy

Abortion is the removal of pregnancy tissue, products of conception or

the fetus and placenta (afterbirth) from the uterus (Harvard Health

2019). When it comes abortion, it a sensitive topic for some but on the

other hand, many people open up as passionate about this topic. Today,

we are seeing a lot of discussion on this topic and from my view point it

is fairly equal when it comes to agreeing or disagreeing with a woman

having an abortion. When we make decisions in life, we are using our

morals, or what we believe is right or wrong in our eyes. When it comes

to the topic abortion, some people believe that it is morally right and that

they should be legal everywhere. Although, some people believe

abortion is morally wrong, they still think that it should be legal because

if every “morally wrong” action was illegal then everyone would be in

jail (Nobis 2019).

Agreement with abortion

Abortion is often labeled as a political topic, but when we dive deeper

into the reasoning behind it, many people portray their moral beliefs on

why they think a woman should be allowed to have an abortion, with no

questions asked. In the article I found they had some great examples of

why some people believe abortion is not wrong, but a few of them really

stood out to me. First, abortion should be a personal choice and if a

couple wants to get one, they should be able to make that choice without

judgement (Nobis 2019). Then, moving forward we look at the morals

behind an agreement with abortion, women should have a moral right to

have an abortion because it is their body, and they have the right to do

what they want with it (Nobis 2019).

Many women who agree with abortion tend to look at it as personal

choice, that’s why they believe that is should be legal everywhere, and if

you personally don’t like them, then don’t get one. Just because some

people don’t personally like the idea of an abortion doesn’t necessarily

mean that it should be a topic on legality, women get abortions for a

variety of ways not just because they weren’t being “safe” or that it was

a true “accident”. Other reasons could include not being financially

stable, fetus, pregnancy complications to mother or baby, a fetus that
