The following is a list of joints' structural classifications. Bones bound together by thick collagen fibers, such as the sutures in our skull, form fibrous joints. The intervertebral disc and pubic symphysis are cartilaginous joints, whereas the hip, knee, and shoulder are synovial joints, which are kept together by ligaments. The following is a list of the joints' functional classifications: An immovable joint is called a synarthrosis, a slightly movable joint is called anamphiarthrosis, and a freely movable joint is called a diarthrosis.
