          Both lipids and carbohydrates are organic substances. Atoms of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen make up both. The distinction between both is that whereas fats are not soluble in water, carbohydrates are. Fats having one or more carbon-to-carbon double bonds are referred to be unsaturated fats. Additionally, unsaturated fats are liquid while saturated fats are solid at normal temperatures, varying from saturated fats in that they have fewer hydrogen atoms on their carbon chains and one or more double bonds.

          Most trans-fats are created when hydrogen is added to vegetable oil, turning it from a liquid to a solid (Mayo Foundation, 2020). whereas in unsaturated fatty acids, the fatty acid chain has at least one double bond.
