Part 2: Report and Reflection
Purpose: Describe the purpose of this experiment in your own words and in complete sentences.
This experiment aimed to demonstrate the phases of homeostasis and all of its components. I also learned about the organs, what they do, and how they assist us in maintaining homeostasis. I also learned that there are two types of feedback loops, negative and positive, and I learned how each has different reactions when applied to the body.
Observations: List 2 observations you have made in this simulation.
I observed the effects of glucose or lack thereof and its effect on our body when exposed to stimuli; I also observed the changes in body temperature, heart rate, and blood pressure when exposed to changes in certain types of external stimuli.
Answer all the questions below:
- Why is it essential to maintain homeostasis? (1 point)
- Provide an example of a positive feedback mechanism and identify the stimuli, the central processing unit, and the effectors involved in the pathway. (2 points)
- In the simulation, what organs were involved in homeostatic control? (2 points)
- Using the figure below identify the abdominopelvic regions (5 points)
- Reflection: Reflect on at least 2 key concepts you have learned from this simulation. How would you relate it to the physiological functions of the body?
